Question types for independent schools

Hello.... DIYing here! I understand the 21 types required in certain areas, but could someone advise me on what is required in independent schools with VR exams such as Latymer Upper, Hampton, Trinity...etc? Is it closer to Bond papers? Would it be closer to GL?

My son is in year 9 at independent school. He was also offered a grammar school place. He worked only from the Bond books and from past papers-most independent schools issue them at open days or have them on their websites so you can see what's required.
