My son is having a complete mental block with these ones at the moment,

i.e. question is.
She wanted a good QUAY cost (answer is LIT) QUALITY

At this late stage is there anything I can do to help? He will be sitting the Bucks as an out of county in October.

Thanks

I assume you meant to type quality coat. Boys especially tend to struggle with these. It is quite common. Most importantly I'd advise him to either leave these completely until he has done the rest of the test or pass through them quickly to see if any leap out at him, hope he sees 2 out of 6 say, then go back at end.
Assuming he has thinking time at the end, encourage him to guess where the three missing letters are and write it down e.g. QUA _ _ _ ITY
Sometimes they can then see it.
Hope this helps.

It's just not the sort of phrase most 10 year olds would have heard .... this is not a fair question in my opinion

My son also struggles with these.
I asked a teacher what he could do to improve and she said just practice.
That said she also said unless they can see the word quite quickly it is best to move on.

move on, buit circle teh question (and perhaps make an educated "guess")

and come back at teh end, din't waste toomuch time on one question

Sorry Yoyo, that's what I meant.
I tell my son to circle the question number, make an educated guess if he can and if he has time to return to it at the end.

If it's multiple choice then that narrows it down.... (alot!)

use substitution?

just thought I would clarify to the confused it should have said "quality coat!", and not cost, (typo). A reply from Patricia or Mike would be appreciated if they have the time, appreciate all other comments.
