tests by Susan Daughtrey

Post by isamum »

Hi,

I am unable to find any info about differences between those sets of tests.
Are the same or different?
Graded Papers has 100 questions in each test.
We are going through them now.
Any comments most appreciated.

Thanks
Iza

Dear Isamum

The graded papers cover 35 plus types in Standard form. 100 questions in 50 minutes.

The Bright Sparks series cover 21 types in Standard and Multiple Choice form. 80 questions in 50 minutes.

The 21 types are used in many areas using NFER [now GL assessment] Verbal Reasoning in M/C form.

Different techniques are used to approach Standard and M/C.

Which area/school are you applying for?

Thanks for your comment.

We are applying for Wallington Girls/Nonsuch and Tiffins.

Does that mean that buying Bright Sparks is going to benefit us as far as correct level of tests is concerned.
Could you recommend any other tests apart from Walsh and NFER?

Dear Isamum

I know Tiffins use the 21 types in M/C therefore with out a doubt, the graded test papers 100q in 50 mins are largely irrelevant [ too many types and in standard form]

The Tiffins VR is the same as the Bucks test. The only difference is that they only use 1 test which will cover 12 types from the bank of 21. [the 12 will change each year] Take a look at the following link..

I am unsure of the disciplines for Wallington Girls/Nonsuch, do you have any idea? Alternatively take a look at the Surrey section of the forum.

OK - I understand, we have to practice 21 types, but the child will get 12 types randomly.
