Some of the GL question types to me seem to me to be not a lot do with verbal reasoning at all.

In Kent this year we are going to have four short GL papers in VR, NVR, English and Maths. The VR time will be approx 30 mins including practice time and examples. I'm thinking that the question types that don't look anything like VR are not likely to be in there - not in the VR paper at any rate - maybe somewhere else they fit better!

Does that sound reasonable? Why do people think that GL VR contains a load of stuff that looks nothing to do with verbal reasoning (e.g. those number sequences). Is it because some schools (like Bucks in the past) only did VR so GL tried to make it a better test by stuffing some other types of reasoning in there too?

Did those number series questions turn up in the real exam in areas that had a maths test too?
