Technique for jumbled sentences

Post by MamaBear »

I am hoping that jumbled sentences will not appear in the Bucks exam this year.

What is the best way to tackle it, quickly try to make a sentence in your head, or to root out the word that seems most unlikely to fit in the sentence?

Personally, I find these one of the most difficult puzzles; but then I'm not 11, and I'm quite amazed that these youngsters can do so well.

I like the way this type of puzzle tests ability - as best I can determine - because of the way English sentences can be restructured in many ways. However, some grammatical rules will generally apply and might help.
