In each of the following questions, there are two pairs of words. Choose the word that is related to both pairs.

(Choose Select) (tool shovel)

(rinse wash) (pipe tube)

Please how do I help my son to work out the answer.

(Choose Select) (tool shovel) would be "Pick", I guess?

Is this not a multiple choice question, in which case, looking at the options would help enormously. I recognise the first one and the answer is pick. If they are multiple choice questions I'm not sure there's much you can do to help improve a child's ability with these. A bit of practice might get him used to the type of question but it depends mainly on their vocabulary.
