Does anybody know how the answer to q 85 on the vr 11c test is worked out?

"If the code for WINE is DRMV
what is the code for WHISKY"

The answer given in the booklet is DSRHPB however my son and I cannot see how this is possible.

We are stumped and we'll probably both have trouble sleeping tonight thinking about it - and he needs all the sleep he can get at the moment. 5 days to go!!!

Looks like a "symmetry" style question.

Draw a line at the half-way point of the alphabet (i.e. between m and n).

W is 10 places right of the line. So this translates to 10 places to the left (D).

I is 5 places to the left. So this translates to 5 places to the right (R)

etc. etc.

I'm doing this from recent memory, and without the paper in front of me. But the above is essentially correct. W is four places from end of alphabet and the corresponding D four places from start of alphabet. I is nine places from start of alphabet and the corresponding R is 9 places from end of alphabet etc. M and N, in the middle of the alphabet isthe key.

Did this paper first time about 10 weeks ago, when first started giving ds some practice (and assessing him). I remember I spotted the code within about 5 seconds. Went through the paper again over Christmas, and it took more than 5 mins to decipher.Who says practice makes perfect.
