Dear All

Important words that I use for for my verbal reason lessons can now be found in the free download section of the website.

It is NOT a definitive list.No one knows the actual words which will be used in the 'real' test, your child just has to start building up their vocabulary.

As per my instructions DO NOT give your child clues as to the meaning. You are not going to be with them in the test

'What does oppose mean?'

'Give me two meanings of contest?'

NOTHING ELSE!!!...tempting as it may seem.

Thanks very much Patricia, I too am guilty of not listening to my children read out loud enough. Will give some thoughts to a game I could create and if ok will post in tips. Have just started on Bond VR book 4, no problems with codes but the wordy ones can be more tricky. We have invested in the Oxford dictionary can you suggest a good thesaurus please?

Thanks Patricia the list is a really helpful tool.

I started listening to my son reading outloud 2 - 3 times a week about 2 months ago, his reading has become more fluent and, as you have said, we can stop and look words up together when he comes across words that he doesn't know.

I will be going through the list with him, resisting the urge to prompt him, and making a note of any words that he doesn't know.

Thanks again for the help.
