TYPE P - Help!!

The good news is my daughter who sits the Bucks 11+ in October this year will be having proper regular tuition with a proper person starting in mid-May - however, I have been going through the various question types with her in the last few weeks which we have both grasped very well!!
However, Type P, IPS Daily Test Book, Test 20 Q2
360, 72, 18, 6, (...)
Answer is 3 which we finally got when my son (him of 12+ fame ) came in - however, I think I need to teach her to look out for these types but don't know what to say and I don't want her having bad habits (going through all sorts of maths trying to find the solution) before she starts with her tutor.
In other words, is there a 'rule' which says when you see a Type P treat it in one of these ways depending on whether it contains big numbers or small numbers???
Or is it just practice and becoming familiar with the different types?
Comments much appreciated
