Take the number of places between the letters.

dh -> D E F G H
sw -> S T U V W

jl -> J K L

oq -> O P Q

As the asnwer does not contain the obvious answer to this question, my theory is to look for other logics and see if the answer is one of the given answers.

D is the forth letter from the beginning and H is number 8.
W is number 4 from the end and S is number 8 from the end

J is H+2 and L is J+2, so
S+2= Q and Q+2=O

Hope this makes sense.

Good question!

In such cases where the common logic fails to find the answer and the above logic makes sense, the way I instruct my DS is to look at the given possible answers and pick the one that matches the logic of JL.

Children should not get disappointment if one logic fails. They should be able to immediately switch to a different possible logic and apply that as well.

.. one more point. Such questions should be of multiple choice type.

I liked the logic explained by vichka as well. Good stuff.

Hi

This is a reverse mirror image question

Write the alphabet out like this (spacing in the text does not align correctly)

ABCDEFGHIJKLM
ZYWVUTSRQPON

In a standard mirror image question we would write DH is to WS, we then reverse the second pair of letters to give

DH is to SW

Therefore in a standard mirror image

JL is to QO

When reversed the answer becomes OQ

This type of question appears once in the NFER preparation papers.

Regards

Mike
