Wilsons/Sutton 2nd Stage Exam pattern

Any suggestions on preparing for 2nd Stage exam please? Not much information on their website, any previous experience, please share on what to prepare and expect in the test.

HI James,

Stage two maths is standard form. Maybe try the excellent Manchester Grammar papers.

And the English is directed writing where the boys are given a text and then have to write some kind of response. For example, they might have to read an article and write a letter of complaint in response to what they have read. it is important to glean as much information from the text as this tests reading as well as writing skills.

Are they suppose to use pencils or pen for this round as it involves creative writing and maths question?

I think many moons ago when my son did it he had to write a letter to the council asking for new playground equipment in a park.
Also there have been pictures in the past to describe.

They won’t give scores or rankings for boys (unless they change this year for some reason). They will just tell you (a couple of weeks after the exam) whether your son reached the standard and is eligible to put the school on the CAF.

Sutton state in their admission policy stage 2 results will be out no later than the 15th October, I’d expect them to be out on the 15th

If they are not going to release scores then how can one decide for relocation. Is it just a gamble or can we get a confirmation for guaranteed entry before buying or renting a house in Sutton?

I assume they will send pass emails to anyone over cutoff marks which will include those who are just above the line but not offered a place.

Same query would apply for Wellington as well
