SunLampVexesEel, I think the passmark is set in advance of the test. However, given the standardisation process applied to the raw scores, what it really means is anyone's guess.

In addition to anyone coming below the passmark being absolutely ineligible for a place, any children in local authority care who achieve the passmark get a place ahead of anyone else (see the criteria on the school website).

Ah. OK. In that case it seems entirely irrelevant; so i'll ignore it.

Thanks

It is irrelevant really when the results aren't announced until allocation day :? . It becomes more relevant when, like Nonsuch, Wallington CG, the test is early and the results announced before your CAF has to be submitted. In that scenario you will know whether your child has reached the selective standard and whether it is worth you putting the school on your CAF. You still won't know whether they will get a place until allocations, but atleast you don't waste your time putting a school on the list if your child hasn't at least achieved the passmark.

It does have some relevance as there was an intake 3 years ago where they ended up with 5 vacancies in the year as had taken everyone off the waiting list, mopped up the end of the Wallington waiting list but left the gaps rather than drop the standard. They did a retest the week after the 11+ in the November and took the top 5 boys from about 40 entries.
