It is on their web site under admissions. as I understand it in previous years if you sat the test but didn't get in then that was that. As of next year it seems that any boy who achieved the cut off mark is eligible to be retested and offered a place should any arise after 31st December of that year when the waiting list is no longer kept.

I think thats what it was saying! <is a bit of a skim reader sometimes>

I'm not sure this is a change of policy. Basically if you don't reach a cut-off mark then your journey is finished. If you exceed the mark, without a higher preference offer, then you stay on a formal ranked waiting list until year end. After year end you have a right to reapply if the school has places but this process is less formalised and is via the governing body etc. the application originating with your home LEA.

I see 1417 boys applied for 140 places... more than 10:1

>90% of all candidates will be disappointed.

Hi SLVE, I think (could be mistaken though) that previously if you failed to get in by the time the waiting list closed then you couldn't be retested at any point between years 7 -11. So I suppose only new applicants could have applied for any places that occured after 31st December. As I read it, you can now apply and be retested providing a place arises as long as you originally reached whatever they deem to be the cut off mark.
