Tiffin Girls catchment area element

Post by mana »

Would someone please explain to me how the catchment area factor and pupil ability work together to determine a place in the Tiffin Girls school?
Also, how wide is the catchment area for this school? Would it include Hampton?
I hate to think that my DD would go through all the exam preparation only to fail on the basis of where she lives.

There is no 'catchment area' as such (score high enough and you'll get a place regardless of where you live - you just need to beat the other 800/900/1000 girls applying!).

It's pretty straightforward: Tiffin offers places to the 120 girls who score the highest marks in the exams (verbal and non-verbal reasoning multiple choice.)

Where you live is only a factor if the girls tie for the last few places: in that case, it's offered to whoever lives nearest.

Not 100% sure about the waiting list, but I think it operates in the same way i.e. if more than one girl on the waiting list has the same score, the place goes to the girl closest to the school.
