Re: State Primaries :Grammar School intake
No problem. You have QE & HBS for us to visit your area. Wish DAO and Latymer would also be bit more welcoming.Daogroupie wrote:Wow, we could do with admissionslady over in Herts so we would not have to work it all out for ourselves!
Hello Surrey, Sutton and Kingston, I am visiting on the trawl for entrance exams that have no catchment area that could be used as mocks. Thank you for any info. DG
See you all on Sutton mocks.

If you read the Lattymer info just posted it seems that you can take their exam if you are not in catchment, but it is late 6th October so may be no good. Which ones can you suggest for us? Dg

Another Kingston borough school - South of the borough.
45 in year.
2012 entry - one to Sutton school
2011 - no successful applicants
2010 - one to Tiffin
2009 - one to Sutton school
2008 - no successful applicants
2007 - one to Tiffin and one to Sutton school
Not that I'm obsessed or anything...........
DG, you could use either of the Wallington schools as practice - 15th and 17th September as nice and early. They have separate tests though so check which bits you want to practice. Nonsuch on 19th and Wilsons on 24th. Between them you can cover VR, NVR maths and English so should be useful. Glad we could help

However, if you come to any of the Sutton schools for free mocks, think again. From this year, we have a Huntlie tax to control congestion (charge varies - nice kids coming by bus would get discount). Also beware of our Traffic wardens- they don't allow parking on pavements even on test days. So cruel.

Small school in Balham - 30 in year group. School rated good.
2012 DD to GS
2011 None
2010 None
2009 None
2008 None
2007 None
Only one other child in the class tried for GS and failed. None of the more able children tries.

Re: State Primaries :Grammar School intake
We did Sutton mocks last year and the year before and we came by train and went to your local shops and restaurants and spent lots of money so we did add value. This year we need QE mocks so we will be looking for English and Maths MC. Dates sound good, need to include grammar and comprehension. Which ones would you suggest? Its a shame that DAO have gone for 3rd September because it means they become a mock and no other exams are early enough to be mocks for them but we can certainly fit in a few before the QE exam on 28th September.
Scoopy19 why does nobody but you at your schl try for gs's?

Thanks. Do come back on other days as well. Shops would be open as usual.

What a logic! I think we should move towards Common Entrance Exam. Otherwise 100s of candidates will descend on Sutton/Kingston schools for free mocks. How about charging £100 for out of borough applicants to cover costs.

Re: State Primaries :Grammar School intake
I am actually quite concerned about DAO being descended on by hordes of 11 plusers seeking free mocks on 3rd September. They do have a catchment area but the entire borough of Islington and chunks of Barnet and Enfield and Herts all fall into it. QE and Latymer have cleverly put their exams later so will avoid this. Latymer is only offering online registration for 6 days as well as opposed to DAO who opened their registration on Monday and will not be closing it until 22nd June. How may normally sit Wallinton and Wilsons? DG

Re: State Primaries :Grammar School intake
From your post on other thread, it seems that tutors (including yourself) are actually encouraging going to open selectives to take free mocks.
So if you plan to land in Sutton, why not rest of the country land in DAO.
But, are Kingston/Sutton children allowed to sit for DAO tests? No.
