It has been like this for a good few years.
The girls' grammar schools are the complete opposite - a 50% pass rate is considered the norm whereas it is never that high for boys despite (probably) similar abilities.

In a way though, this Wallington result is more useful to parents. Those whose boys have passed know that getting a place isn't such a long shot as it might be for those whose girls have passed the equivalent exam.
Those whose boys have not reached the pass mark know that now (5 months before offer day), as opposed to those waiting nervously until March not knowing they are actually stand at number 600 on a pass list and therefore will have little or no chance of an actual offer.

Well done to those who have passed and good luck to those who haven't and are waiting on other results.

Anyone got any views on why that might be the case?
SGS has yet to test maths and English essay. Some boys will not be of selective ability in those areas. They will fall to the bottom of the ranking and would be deemed as not of selective ability had they taken the whole test in one. That would be my guess.
