Hello everyone

For all those with a ds in year 5 who is looking to take the Tiffin (Boys) School 2014 entry exam, how is the preparation going?

I phoned the admissions department at Tiffin School today to ask if they planned on making any changes to the method of testing, and the head of admissions said that this year the test would remain unchanged, and there would be no Maths or English. The only changes are to the method of selecting boys, as stated in the Draft Admissions Arrangements. Is it safe to say that we dont need to prep for English and Maths now?

How is the prep going? We are starting IPS VR practice papers this week and are working through bonds NVR assessment papers. We are also working through Bonds English and Maths papers to be safe.

Hi, jaysdarlin, many of your previous posts and ideas have been very useful to us.

Towards the end, we also used Tutors 15mins tests in VR for quick revision. Level 3 is good enough, but level 4 is also useful for Tiffin's VR test.

Hi Jaysdarlin, Nice to see you back! The phrasing of the Tiffin admissions person was interesting: sounds like the exam might change next year when my DS is taking it What do we prepare for now?!!

Sounds like your timetable is working. I'm sure your DS3 will be fine

I was chatting to Tiffin Headteacher on rugby touchline before Christmas, she was asked by another parent if there are any plans to introduce English and Maths into the entrance exam and said absolutely no plans in the foreseeable future.

So there you have it, straight from the horse's mouth!

Very helpful comments for the 'foreseeable future', I suppose. Many parents would now be feeling a bit relieved.

I would be extremely relieved if it wasnt for two tutors telling me not to count on it, and that English and Maths may be added without notice! Would Tiffin do this? Admissions told me they would never make any changes without consultation, it wasnt the way of the school

There is no change proposed in Tiffin's consultations about the entrance tests. Only proposed change is about the PAN and tie for 150th place.

1. No changes are proposed for Tiffin School (boys) entrance tests in October 2013 (for Sep 2014) entry. It would still be in VR/NVR.
2. Tiffin School has no catchment.
3. If you are asking about Tiffin Girls, then TW4 is in their proposed catchment.
