Re: Sutton Grammar School - 2013 admissions
SGS parents & parents to be seem to be a bit reticent on this forum....
DS3 following DS1 & DS2 to SGS - huge relief. We have been really happy with the school. It's great that in the Sutton area we have so many excellent grammar (& other) schools.

DS didnt make it to SG
I am really interested in knowing - is there anyone in the forum that has been allocated SG, but is deciding to go indie instead?

Re: Sutton Grammar School - 2013 admissions
SGS have now sent out the scores. We now know its game over - he stuffed his maths which I thought he had as he went into a panic over one quite large question and that threw him.
His marks were
Common Eligibility Test 70
English Test 60
Maths Test 49
I'd be interested to know how that compares with anybody else.

Sorry to hear that ThreeKids. My DS has scored a total of 175. The letter says the score reqd is 187 !
Does that mean they cannot be considered for wait lists too?

Re: Sutton Grammar School - 2013 admissions
Yes it does. With age adjustment DS is on 183 which is too low to be considered for entry and the waiting list. That's basically that for both our sons. My commiserations to you and your son too. Can I ask what your split was? Just out of interest really, no problem if you would prefer not, or if you would prefer to PM.ilovemyboys wrote:Sorry to hear that ThreeKids. Likewise. Baked beans on toast for the next 7 years!ilovemyboys wrote:phew, that's it then !!!! DS will be more crushed that me !

And to your other post - I thought as much and bother. DS seems like he was on track more or less until he panicked at that one question in the maths. I wouldn't mind so much if that was his weaker subject, but its not. Grrrrrr. Oh well. A lesson learnt. Expensive though!
Re: Sutton Grammar School - 2013 admissions
my son missed out also. Got an overall score of 183. He told us he didn't finish the english paper (is not a very quick writer) and that was his big let down as he only scored 51 and its an area he normally does very well in.
Its really disappointing and means we will now probably be paying for his education.
I am pretty gutted for him as so much effort was put in but even when he said he did not finish his english exercise I kind of knew the writing was on the wall.
