I think the format of the Comprehension test also plays a part. Multiple choice would indicate a single mark per answer but standard format does require a cohesive sentence and awards up to a few marks for it.
This would only be the second year that Tiffin Girls would be running the English and Maths papers so a lot is still unknown on how to approach the tests.

This is such an interesting thread. It really nails the reasons why so many students do badly in Comprehension and Creative Writing papers. It covers all the points I tell the parents of my students and I will be directing them to this thread so they can hear it from somebody other than me! DG
