I do think the introduction of the priority area is a very positive decision to have been made by the school. Things have been getting ridiculous....

Now that is just sad. Don't people want to be with their children?

By the way Tiffinboys I'm sorry I don't understand your reference to Heathrow and Leatherhead. Have I missed something? Am I being dense?

Just a different form of boarding school I guess. Would be very sad if the lad was staying at a B&B or something during the week, but staying with Grandparents for 4 nights perhaps during the week would be more plausible and not totally unreasonable? Better than travelling a long way 10x a week, and as we know in London it's not the 14km that is relevant it's the time it takes! 14km out in the country would be a quick 15-20mins journey... but not round here :)

@peridot

14km catchment area would encompass Heathrow, Cobham, Leatherhead border, Purley, Croydon, Brixton, Sheppard's Bush, Wembley border (A40), Greenford, Southall, Cranford etc.

Roughly quarter of area under M25 belt.

So is that it then? They have imposed the 14km limit (straight line) for entry in Sep 2015.

Previous attempts required involvement from local or national government.

I guess those further than 14km need not sit the tests then?

As Tiffins is now an academy, local government would not be involved in decisions over admission policy and catchment area.
Once finalised (is it yet finalised?) candidates from beyond 14km could not be prevented from taking the test but in reality would not stand a chance of securing a place.
