Need help with what books to buy and preparation

Hi

My DC is in year 4. I want to get started with buying material etc. He willing be taking the Sutton Grammar and Wilson's, Wallington exams. I understand for all these schools they make their own test papers. Does that mean there is no one good set of books to buy like Bond etc?

Please advice what books to get and also what age material should I be aiming for? Age 8-9 as he's still in year 4 or should he start with 9-10 now and then in year 5 do 10-11 yrs? Will he need to touch on material for 11-12 before taking the exams?

Also is it correct that above schools don't have a verbal reasoning or non verbal reasoning test? They have a maths and creative writing test?

Do I not bother with verbal reasoning then? Or does the entry exam still have verbal reasoning?

My understanding is that you take one entry exam and if you pass this you go onto the 2nd stage exams for each school. Do Sutton Grammar and the rest of the above schools also write their own entry exam papers? Or are these set to all the schools? What material gets you ready for the entry exam?

I am new to this so if anyone can give me as much info and their experiences will be much appreciated.

Thank you.
