Re: Time available for Creative writing in exams
As an aside... That's really interesting to me to see how different these exams can be from each other. In the second-stage Tiffin Girls' exam in 2012 the writing task was a picture one. They were literally just given a picture and asked to write about it. No instructions about numbers of words, no format, no genres, nothing! (I don't know what the writing task for the school was last year.)
Re: Time available for Creative writing in exams
Gosh, did they do an obituary at Wilsons last year? I heard that it was a report. Perhaps my sources were telling me porkies, or there was more than one choice of topic!
As for the Tiffins picture, that would lend itself towards descriptive writing, although possibly a narrative/personal recount too.
That's actually a very 'democratic' choice, as it does not exclude any student at all, as they all will have done descriptive, narrative, etc styles of writing in class at Year 5. I don't suppose it will crop up again, but you can always hope!
