Re: Wilsons Exam today
We too overheard two boys on the bus saying the same thing to the parents: "we finished at half-time". I didn't know they had 'half-time'.

Re: Wilsons Exam today
I think once again this year Wilson's English will be the differentiator. With over 925 boys chasing so few places it's getting tougher each year.
Re: Wilsons Exam today
Yes, he did Shrimpstation. Though the English "only" counted for 35% last year.
Re: Wilsons Exam today
English format was unexpected, my DS hadn't practiced anything similar but said was easier than Maths, although not sure if he misunderstood what was asked.
Re: Wilsons Exam today
New to posting but not new to the forum - very helpful to read everything in the last six months. My DS found Wilsons exams today okay, a few he took a stab at in Maths, English ok. Tiffins tomorrow (Aagghhh Today)

Re: Wilsons Exam today
Last year the weightage for the Wilsons's school was 30%(SET First stage Marks)+35%(Second stage Maths)+35%(English Second stageMarks).
This year the weightage could be a variable depending on school preference.
Don't worry, understand from DS, even last year one maths problem has really tested.
Yes. Prior knowledge or tutoring or reading some good books on creative writing would definitely help. Remember, there is no wrong answers in English unless you really mess up. More structured, detailed answers will have more marks.

When is the back up date for those who were sick? Once that is over I would be very interested to hear about this English format that could leave students who did not understand it with 30 mins to spare! DG
