Tiffin boys Exam

Re: Tiffin boys Exam
Son sat the exam yesterday morning. Good to see the usual lowlife morons causing traffic chaos by dropping their sons off directly outside the school gate.
In contrast to other comments son found the VR slightly harder than expected but felt it was ok and he finished with a few minutes spare. The NVR he found easier than expected. Recently he's had timing issues with papers and although scoring high marks has been taking way too long. Anyway he completed it just about in time but had to guess the last one.
It's not the school he is likely to be going to but it would be nice to have a back up ahead of January's exams.
Hopefully no OOC candidates gain a place.

J50, please don't be so angry with the parents. If school allows, every body is entitled to apply.
Btw, the catchment is 14 km radius, which is 615.9 sq.km. Let us hope there are more local children.
This March, 30 children from Kingston Borough got the place. Such is the competition for Tiffin.

Everyone is entitled to apply whether the school likes it or not.
The school can set admissions criteria so that ooc children do not gain places (this is almost certainly the case now at Tiffins - there is no way they will fail to fill Year 7 just from candidates living within the 14km priority area) but they cannot outright prevent parents from anywhere applying to the school.
It may take a couple of years to filter through though. Once there are a few years of stats to present and it becomes clear that it is all but impossible for an ooc child to gain entry, the number of ooc admissions will tail off.

In fairness, the "usual lowlife morons causing traffic chaos" aren't necessarily out of catchment applicants, even if they're not familiar enough with the fairly confusing driving / parking system in Kingston. I can imagine people driving around the corner and suddenly yelling, "There it is! Out, out out!"

Re: Tiffin boys Exam
Any idea how many children sat the exam on Wednesday?
Re: Tiffin boys Exam
possibly 1800 would have done the exam at Tiffins.
Re: Tiffin boys Exam
I am guessing this includes the two days, not just Tuesdays exam.

Re: Tiffin boys Exam
DS reported 525 seats (21 rows of 25 seats) available per half day sessions. So, I'm assuming maximum of 2100 examinees over the course of two days.

Re: Tiffin boys Exam
Did they use only one hall this time? or was it on the 2nd day?
Re: Tiffin boys Exam
DS sat Tuesday morning session - 'White Paper' hall - entrance on London Road just round the corner from the front gate but I have seen boys going through the front gate too. When we collected the boys we were asked to leave promptly as the staff had to start preparation for the afternoon session. I am guessing that Wednesday was probably the same?
