Re: Wallington Boys Exam 11 Oct 2014
Hi Grtmum,
Last Year we were in North London.
We have put in CAF and my DS got a place in the school we preferred. No cathment according to me.
Only when the scores tie after age standardisation then the distance will be counted.
Please put in the CAF as per your preference.
Cheers,

Thank you very much for your reply. Do you mind telling me which school you preferred?

Re: Wallington Boys Exam 11 Oct 2014
I was not sure of catchment for SGS that time, so we have put one Hertfordshire and one Bukinghamshire based schools in the CAF form which he passed.
As we were bit confident, I have asked my DS not to appear for SGS as we filled in 6 places in CAF form. We even discounted KENT due to the distance factor though DS passed the test.

SGS now have places reserved just for Sutton boys. That is a relatively new thing. They used to just go by score except in the event of a tie. People from outside can still apply but may have less chance of a place (although that does not mean you shouldn't put it 1st on your CAF if you really want it - you aren't disadvantaged for other schools by naming a school 1st which you don't then get a place at).
Tiffins too have a priority area now which is very new and virtually excludes those from outside being able to get a place (no spaces reserved for top scores out of area)
Wallington and Wilsons just use score so are open to everyone equally with distance only used as a tie breaker for boys that share the last qualifying score.
