Perhaps their logic might be that the overall number of IC admissions would remain the same as pp girls are also IC. Might have been better to increase the PAN, if possible.

no substantive changes but instead “tidy up” some of the language used in
sections 1 to 8 inclusive

Wilson's School

No consultation commenced as yet. So no change there. Previous arrangements were SET and 2nd stage test.
Over subscription criteria was as follows.
Where the number of eligible candidates for admission exceeds 180, places will be allocated according to their position in the rank order of the entrance examinations. Where candidates have the same rank order and where the admission of all would exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the following order:
firstly to candidates whose home address* is within the London Borough of Sutton in the order of the distance of their home address measured in a straight line from the main front door of Wilson’s School;
secondly to those candidates who live elsewhere in the order of the distance of their home address measured in a straight line from the main front door of Wilson's School.

Entrance tests: SET and 2nd stage test in English & Maths.
Over-subscription criteria:
The following criteria will apply, in the order set out below, to determine the rank order of boys
eligible for offers of places at the School:
1. Boys who are looked after by a local authority. Supporting evidence of the status will be required.
2. 75 places by rank order of the scores in the selection tests where the home address of the boy is in one of the postcodes (SM1-7, KT4, KT17, CR0 4--, CR4).
3. 60 places (plus any remaining places in criterion 2 if the number of qualified boys in criterion 2 is less than the 75 on offer) by rank order of the scores in the selection tests from any home address
4. Proximity of the boy's home address from the school (where scores are equal).

As the final score is rounded to the nearest four marks there will usually be several boys with the same final score. Where the admission of all of these would exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated by proximity of the boy's home address (measured in a straight line) to the front door of the School.

Sutton Grammar School

Consultation for 2016 intake

The two points of difference from last year are:

that the Standard Admission Number for year 7 is confirmed as 135 places. This was a provisional number for the 2015 entry, dependant on capital projects to provide the necessary accommodation for this increase.
New buildings will be complete by the end of the summer term 2015 that allow 135 to be the new Standard Admissions Number from now on.

this school will follow the practice of the other selective schools in Sutton by conducting its second stage test early in October to give a full result to parents or guardians before any school choices have to be expressed on the Common Application Form.
Up to now we have used a later date for the second stage tests, feeling that this gave boys another half term to develop their skills and be at their peak for our test. We felt that the SET result was enough to give parents an indication of selective ability.
However, feedback from parents suggests that the stress caused by the extra wait and not knowing our result in the same detail as for the other two selective schools in Sutton outweigh any advantages of a later second stage test.
Some statistics about 2014 intake.
Applications for Entry to Year 7 in 2014
637 boys took the second stage test for admission to Sutton Grammar School for the 120 available places for
entry in September 2014. 442 of the boys tested were deemed to be of selective ability. Applications were
made for 726 boys on the Common Application Form.
Six appeals against non-admission (all for year 7 entry) were lodged with the Admissions Appeals
Committee. One was withdrawn before the hearing and none was upheld.

Given that the stage 2 result was only known on allocation day, it's not stripping that applications exceeded the number passing both stages - but interesting that there were such a lot from boys who hadn't actually passed the SET.

My assumption would be that most of those extra boys did pass the SET and put Sutton Grammar on their CAFs but decided after that not to sit the exam for various reasons.
Could be wrong.
