hello, my yr5 son will be taking the exams for wilsons and sutton grammar this autumn 2015. we are tutoring at home, and as this is our first time thought an intensive holiday 'cramming' course for 2 days or so preferably for easter , but also june half term or summer holidays would be useful for him. We live in morden so the closer the better. i have seen such classes advertised in previous years but am reluctant to enroll without a recommendation. Can anyone recommend a holiday course? or can offer any advice?
any help much appreciated!

We try to keep the forum as safe as possible - we don't allow tutors to be openly recommended, because it attracts posts with fake recommendations ('dodgy' advertising solely designed to solicit business on the internet).
It is also not unknown for unscrupulous competitors to 'plant' posts seeking to denigrate the opposition!

Genuine recommendations from forum members by PM only (private message) are permitted - but be aware of the possibility that someone who appears to be a 'helpful parent' offering advice may not be all they seem! There could be an ulterior motive.

Always treat recommendations from unknown persons with great caution.
However, we have many long standing members (check carefully the date of joining and number of posts) who make a very valuable contribution to the forum. If you receive a private recommendation from one of them, it could be worth considering.

Please let us know if you think anyone is abusing the system by soliciting for business or 'spamming'.
It's easy to report a possible problem - just click on the red exclamation mark that appears with every post and PM: Image

I don't know abut any courses - my DS didn't take any - but the Sutton Grammar School mock exam was very helpful in getting him used to the exam process, timings, queuing, etc.

The exams are run by the PTA and they hold a number of sessions. They only test as per what's likely to be in the SET, not the second round tests, but still very useful:

Agree with Shrimp... The Mock Tests @ SGS helped my DS too. He didn't do any courses. Only DIY prep (all GL tests available @ book stores) and tutoring 5 months before the exams and DS passed.
Good luck!
