Wallington County Grammer drops stage two test

It would appear from Wallington's site that they have dropped stage two test and are only basing eligibility on the SET. I wonder why???
" Boys will be regarded of selective ability according to their performance in the Selective Eligibility Test (SET). In the event that the number of eligible applications exceeds the number of places available, the following criteria will apply"

Epic change - it's very considerate of WCSG considering 2015 Entrance exam was deemed by many children to be the most challenging of alll the Sutton superselectives

Similar catchment to Sutton Grammar for up to 15 places for those boys who are successful in the Selective Eligibility Test (SET) where the permanent home address*** is one of the postcodes (SM1, SM2, SM3, SM4, SM5, SM6, SM7, KT4 8 --, CR0 4 --, and CR4 4 – at the time of Common Application Form (CAF) submission deadline.

Do you think the other Sutton Grammar schools will follow WCGS by dropping the 2nd stage tests ?

Did they consult these changes?
Dropping stage 2 tests might mean that mostly the same children who were offered places would have got the places if the allocation was based on SET alone. So the school may have thought that stage 2 was unnecessary.

Not likely as both Wilson's and Sutton Grammar have published their second stage dates.

Hi Zeinab, no sorry I meant those going into secondary school in 2015 - entrance tests in 2014. WCSG had gone from the most difficult enrance exam of all the Superselectives in 2014 to the most accessible in 2015. I know of quite a few boys who passed the SET but didn't pass the second stage. It gives these children who live in close proximity a higher probability of a grammar school education.

I am interested to know what was so difficult about this test. Was it the English? DG
