I know it's slight, but it might help a few, who are really close to getting a place either way, to get across the line. The change to English and Maths and the removal of the scaling of stage one results all have the potential to make a difference too. As our principal says to selective heads, "If you want more of our children in your school, test them on English and Maths. We teach those every day."

With 180 places, and considering other choices for top 250 scorers, last place very likely to be won by some one ranked 280 or even lower. The inner area criterion is merely a useless pacifier. TGS just wanted to show to be doing something for PP children and local candidates.
