Can anyone shed any light on the format of this event for Year 7 parents? I am a bit shy and not comfortable at social events.

Eg Are the parents labelled with their child's name and then grouped in classes? Or is it like a cocktail party where parents need to network?
Or does the Headmaster talk about the monthly donations to the school?

There is absolutely no pressure at Wilson's to donate money. You get told once and once only that the donations are used mainly to fund extracurricular stuff. It is strongly emphasised that only one person in the finance office knows what is donated. None of the teachers do. Also we were told if donating was going to put your household under any financial pressure not to give anything at all. Never been mentioned since at any time.
You get given a label with your son's name and house so you can try to find other parents with sons in the same house.
I think there was wine, Certainly not cocktails.
The main part of the evening is about marking schemes, reports, pastoral care, trips etc and chance to meet the tutors.
Very relaxed evening. Useful info. You wouldn't want to miss it.
Succinct and to the point. No rambling speeches.

Thank you Moon unit for your response. I do feel more relaxed about it, now.
