Which is harder Sutton grammars or Tiffin Girls?

Are the exams similar in terms of difficulty?

There are more places available in 2 Sutton girls grammar schools than Tiffin Girls. That makes it more competitive to get in TGS than NSHS or WHGS. My DC2 thought that English Writing tests for TGS were harder than Sutton's one.

But bear in mind that the difficultly of the exam doesn't necessarily link to the difficultly of gaining a place at a school. If a school is unpopular and has a difficult exam a child could get a place even with a very low raw score. Conversely a popular school could have an easier exam and a child would need a very high raw score to get a place.

I think Tiffins Girls marking scheme is very hard and it's not easy to get into TGS after initial cut-off unless your DD's score is very close to Initial cutoff score as their WL is one that hardly moved from initial cut off where as in Nonsuch/Wallington Girls, I have seen large variation from the initial cut off, but It's purely a personal opinion based on my DD's experience and some of her friends scores.

The difference in the amount of movement in the waiting list is nothing to do with the difficulty of each school's marking scheme. It's about how popular a school is and how many people decline places they are offered. TGS could have a really easy exam one year and it would still be hard to get s place because the school is popular.
