Hi, Does anyone know how many boys sat the SET this year? We were told by one of the PTA members at one of the schools that over 8000 children sat this year, the highest ever?

So two thirds as many again as last year?

That sounds like a huge increase, so would take it with a pinch of salt until official figures confirmed. I have no doubt though that the numbers have gone up from previous years. 2006 was a high birth year and I have also heard that many parents are looking to move their DC's from private sector to state schools as parents are worried about job security due to brexit.

We see this with most schools every year. The rumour mill goes into overdrive and numbers get inflated in the best game of Chinese whispers.
The school will likely give you an official figure at some point.

Figures given by SGS before this year's SET showed that last year 2439 sat the SET. This year 3125 boys registered to take the test. Assuming some registered students did not actually take the test. This year's number should be a few hundreds more than last year. This is consistent with the trend in the last few years.

I don't have the number for girls, but it is usually less than the number of boys. So I think the figure of 8000 is not right and the actual one should be close to 6000 the most.
