Hello

Does anyone know whether girls must spend exactly half the exam (first or second stage) on maths and half on English or whether they can spend more on one than the other?

My daughter is super fast and accurate at English but quite slow with maths especially if she wants to be accurate. I’m guessing the answer is probably no in case children really mess up timing but hoping yes!

I believe they are separate papers and there is a break between, so there is no opportunity to spend longer on one at the expense of the other.

Thanks. I suspected as much, but a shame for my daughter!

Nonsuch/WHSG def do maths and english as separate papers, so you can't use time for one on the other.

Don't know about Tiffin, but I'd assume the same.

All Sutton GS and both Tiffins have separate English and Maths paper with a small break between.

Thanks all. As we do maths practice tests she is getting faster. She'd be laughing if she could borrow time off the English section but I understand that it could be risky to hand over the time management to the children.
