It annoys me hugely that if my daughter was a boy she'd be in the inner area, but as a girl she's in the designated area. I live in borough of Kingston on a direct bus route to the school but this still only qualifies for designated area. Grrr!!!

This is a consultation, so if you have comments to make, make them.

Yes! Read it but didn't see where to make comment. Fair point. Will look properly and do so!

I’d always recommend people respond to consultations, even if it’s just to say you agree with them.

Unfortunately few do and it’s usually those most opposed, and LAs often treat them as a tick box exercise they have to do. Rational, reasoned objections, preferably with a reasonable solution do get noticed.

You should make this comment and reply

Although the schools are 2 separate legal entities, this is bordering on discrimination by gender if different rule is applied to girl instead of a boy

Perhaps suggest the Governors add a clause, that if a boy living at same address qualifies for inner area, then a girl should be deemed in TGS inner area.
Go further and put in your reply that the Governors should explain in the consultation results summary why they consider your situation should be their policy rather than an unintended consequence.

There is the answer, I think?

Yes, I agree.

There are plenty of place where there are not equivalent provisions for girls and boys, including in the neighbouring borough of Sutton (three boys' schools, two for girls). There is no obligation on the two separate Kingston schools to run identical, or even parallel, admissions criteria.
