Tiffin Boys Stage One Test - Thursday 10th October

Post by Mummy**** »

Hi all,

I just wanted to reach out to any parents whose son took the Stage one exam on Thursday 10th October at Tiffins.

I wanted to ask how their son found the exam environment on the day.

My son noticed some disturbance and I wanted to check if any other children did also.

Thank you

Hi, may I ask you what sort of disturbance did your son find on that day?

Yes my son also complained about disturbances during the exam and was very annoyed about it.
I have sent my feedback to school but not sure if they are doing to do anything about it.

Thank you so much for replying. I raised virtually the same thing to the School on the day right after the exam. I also followed it up with a lengthy email.

My son was at the front of the room and one of the invigilators phone was on vibrate and buzzed throughout the entire exam and threw my son off.

The noise from outside from the children was also dreadful as breaktime started during the exam.

They have not replied to my query as yet. But I am glad there are others who can back up what my son was saying.

My son sat the one on Tuesday. He said boys were queuing for the loo (!) next to him and that put him off! Also that he had to move his table. He still passed. nonetheless, it doesn’t sound ideal exam conditions.

I can'r believe that one of the other invigilators did not do anything about it.

I used to be an invigilator and there is no way any of the other invigilators I worked with would have let another invigilator get away with this.

They are being paid to create and maintain a suitable exam environment for the students, not to actually be the origin of the noise in the room.

I really hope to hear the school has acted on this. DG

I totally agree with you I thought they were there to prevent disruptions not cause them.

Unfortunately they are not likely to do anything about it at least that's how they have come across.

I'm unsure what to do about it, any advice would be appreciated.
