Hi,
I am trying to get some info about commute to Wallington girls. Is Leatherhead commutable to school... Do ‘we’ know anyone here doing similar commute to the school... dropping to Epsom from Leatherhead for trains is an option??? Or any car share from the area would work.. please share info regarding the same... Much appreciated... Many thanks ☺️

From Google map, Train to Carshalton station, then bus 127 to Woodcote Green. About 50 to 55 minutes.

Is this a school you already have a place at? We would always advise working out the transport before applying. I think car shares will be very tricky in these days of social distancing. We have some thoughts on the issue of car shares which we always post on these threads:
Checklist when considering a car share
• How much do you really know about the other parent from a child safeguarding point of view? (Remember, anyone working with children, e.g. bus drivers for the school service, must have a current DBS form.)

• How much do you really know about their driving skills? Have you seen their insurance and car roadworthy details? (Remember that public transport and dedicated school services are required to have these, to a high level.)

• How would you cope if your child fell out with the other children in the car pool, or wanted to do different after school activities, or didn't want to stay after school when the other children were staying late?

• How would you cope if one of the other car pool parents had their car break down, or off the road for some other reason, at short notice?

• What if it's your turn to drive, and you or your child is sick?

• What if the other family turns out to be unreliable, or the driver/their child is regularly late, or ill?

• What if the other child moves to a different school?

• What if one child needs to stay after school for an activity or event?

• What if the driver smokes when driving?

• What if the driver's conversation turns out to be objectionable or age inappropriate?

If there is no direct bus from Epsom, then Carshalton station would be a better option.

You could ask the school if they would pass on your contact details to the parents of any girls on your area, but as scary mum says, car shares are a bit of a problem at the moment (would it be okay if the girls were in the same 'bubble' at school, I wonder?). Things may be different by September, of course.

Or is there a 'Leatherhead' FB group, or a 'Wally Girls' FB group where you could ask?

Dd got a place and we are contemplating of travel from Leatherhead and hence the question..thinking of settling nearer to the school when budget permits. I understand car sharing issues at the moment.. could be tricky... thanks everyone ☺️

I wouldn’t bother with the bus.
How about Epsom to Sutton then change there for train to Wallington and walk up the hill.
It would be much quicker and loads of girls walk up from the station.
