Juts for ref from a friend on tiffins WL:

Initial Qualifying score in 2018: 107
xx got: 105

Waiting list position on 29th March: 20th( first time published)

Waiting list on 24th Apr: 8th

He was offered place on 24th May 2018
Did your friend get updates on the WL position from the school? I know they say not to contact, so wondering how we would get this info?

Oh, I see, so they contacted the school?

I don't know if I should do that given they say not to? Maybe worth asking the council.

Hi everyone. We were offered a place at Tiffin but will not accept so hope one of your sons will get it. Good luck.

We are WL#60, don’t even know what to think. I can believe Currently being 3 marks away would put him at this position.
But trying to to be hopeful as possible!
Has there been any movement down to that place in the previous years?

Is the year's intake 180 for year 7?
Would it be reasonable to say that being ~30 places down the waiting list after the first round of offers and then subsequently getting an offer means there is a very high turnover of children?

From the school, for the avoidance of doubt: "The waiting list positions that were sent out this week are the current positions."

I don't think there is a high turnover of children once they join. Do you mean before they join?

I think there is a fair amount of movement right up to December - I think this may be to do with people being offered their first choice school and then declining Tiffin, so it's a knock on effect from other waiting lists I imagine.

Sorry yes, before they join.
I guess maybe I need to wait and see what the final cut number is.
If we got a place now at say #35.
That would mean at least something like 20% of the potential year had changed. This would need adjustment for the previous round as well.
You're right of course though, knock on effect from other lists etc. Maybe that is the norm.
thanks

The potential year doesn't change. All those that sat the second round are the potential year.
Could be the top 320 scorers don't want a Tiffin place (unlikely) then the year would be 321 to 500.
