Does anyone know if the induction day on 7th July is for the students only or will parents also be invited? If not will the school organise one inviting parents?

I believe many of us didn’t get to visit the school last year due to lockdown and I now see that the 2022 year 7 opening evening is scheduled to take place on 13th July. Do you think we can join in if there won’t be one for us parents of this September?

In anticipating for the uniform fitting session and purchasing in late July, any current parent able to advise if the 30mm approximately for name embroidery on navy overall means the height of the alphabets or the length of name e.g. HANNAH as given on the website.

Many thanks

I would have thought it was 3cm (30mm) high as if each name had to be fitted into 3cm across they would be extremely small letters if someone had a long name and impossible to read from a distance

That was my first thought too but just wanted to double check as it feels big across the back, depending on the chosen type of embroidery design e.g. satin stitch. I assumed it doesn’t need to be professionally embroidered as I am thinking to hand stitch it myself (with any type of embroidery stitches that I can master).

I expect it can be done in any way - seem to remember some uniform shops in the midlands used to do the embroidery for you, they just programmed it into the sewing machines. All I have ever used was chain stitch which is fairly easy.

They are not that fussed about it. We took our daughter's to a shop to do and they had a pile of them for TGS (3cm high rings a bell). As it happens my daughter used it about twice.
