DD had a choice between Coloma & Nonsuch 6th form - Coloma slightly better A level results than present coeducational school and nearer, 15/25mins incl rush hr. Nonsuch much better A level results but further, 30/40mins incl rush hr. We initially went with Coloma (nearer) and DD went to their induction day last Friday...she didn't like it at all. The vibes she got was a very cold one from existing students who she had asked for directions and they apparently just looked at each other, laughed and walked off. She came home saying she could not see herself there for the next 2 yrs. We did not see the school beforehand because of Covid restrictions. So now she says she wants to go to Nonsuch. Commute will not be an issue, can drop off Carshalton bus Stop D where she'll take one bus all the way approx 20/30 mins.

Any parents whose DDs currently there who can give some wholesome feedback, re school or parents whose DDs are going into 6th form would be highly appreciated as we feel both lost and alone :(

No personal experience of either school, I'm afraid (although a friend attended Nonsuch decades ago), but... Are you sure that your DD still has the place at Nonsuch to choose? I appreciate that things are done differently in different areas, but those who meet their conditional offer for our local grammar schools normally have to confirm within about 24 hours of results day that they intend to take up their place. Obviously, the schools do consider late (re)applicants, but wouldn't guarantee the original A level options, even if a place could be offered.

Hello ToadMum- Hope you and your family are well xx

We'll be phoning up and sending emails tomorrow. There's a few changes with her initial choices as well. Initially she was going to take sciences and geography but now wants to replace sciences (chemistry & biology) with Gov & Politics & psychology because her grade for Chemistry was 6 and 7 for Biology so is unable to take Chemistry. A bit messy but it's been a messy year where she knows as we all do that things could have been different, but it is what it is ToadMum :(
