New Sutton Test Format
Hi,
I have recently noticed that Sutton test paper has changed in format. Can anyone please give me any recommendations on what books and tests I can teach my child to develop these skills, like comparing texts, and being able to choose more than one answer?
Thank you.

Re: New Sutton Test Format
Hi, We sat the exams in September and so the new format was VERY new. At the time, there was only one resource I knew of which offered comparison style questions - exampapersplus.
However, I felt rather like my hands were tied at the time I purchased them: I had no reviews to go on, so had no idea whether the material was any good/ closely reflected the actual exam format. It wasn't cheap either.
It would be interesting to see what parents actually made of them, now that we have all been through it. We got hold of them about a week or so before the exams and tbh my child found them quite demoralising. In hindsight, I think it affected his confidence going into the exam.
Keep asking around though, there may be many more resources available now that the exams have been held and companies have a better idea of how this was tested/ had more time to generate suitable material. In my opinion however, if you are comfortable DIY, a better way might be to just read different comprehension extracts or books with your child and then talk to your child about the differences and similarities they see between different texts you have read, or the characters within and between texts or the way something is described.
