Tiffins 2009

Post by JaysDarlin »

Hi all!

How many of us are applying for the Tiffins 11+ this year? Just wanted to know how the prep is going.

Yes - my DS is prepping for the Tiffin exam.
When he does his papers, he makes silly mistakes and never goes over the paper to check his answers. He always assumes that his first answer is the correct one. When we go over his errors, he realises his silly mistakes.
What percentage pass mark does he need for any chance of being offered a place?

I suspect there will be more applying this year, and that people who may have gone the independent route may opt for tiffin instead. ( Last year i know people who had offers at Tiffin and independents and chose the independnets, but will be intereating to see if that happens this year.)
Best Regards,

No maths!

Post by Drastic Dad »

Just checked their website. Open evening on 9th of October, exam on the 9th of December. No maths exam there either, only Verbal and Non-verbal reasoning. Not that I am complaining, but why are they all dropping maths?

Drastic Dad,

As far as I know, in the last few years, it has always been VR and NVR tests with Tiffin schools.

Thea, do you think this is because of the credit crunch?

The Tiffin VR and NVR will both be 50 minutes long with 80 questions.

Does anyone know how many sections there will be?

If there are 5 sections, that would make 16 questions per questions, right? Is that 10 minutes per 16 questions? So would it be a reasonable target to complete each question in about 40 seconds?
