clashing exam dates

The snow has meant that our first choice school has postponed its exams to--you've guessed it -the same day as our second-choice school!
Any thoughts on how to handle this?

You just have to say that you have other commitments on that day. They shouldn't be surprised as any plans you have made will have been done months ago and they cannot expect you to change them now.
