There is a list of exceptions to the rule, one if which is relocation, another is parental death (!); nothing about bullying or just hating the place! Or one's parents going bankrupt paying the remaining fees.
I think we have to bite the bullet and speak to the head. Or, as he seemed to like my son so much, commenting on his 'very mature mind', maybe I should send him in to negotiate the terms under which he will agree to attend!
