Hi all,

Does anyone know how much you would need to be earning to qualify for a bursary? I'm talking 100% here, really cant afford it.

Thankyou!

Varies from school to school but for 100% its near £16 000 household income and most schools say you need a household income of under £45 000 to qualify for limited bursaries. KES Birmingham is the only one that I have seen that awards busaries up to £70K

For the school that my daughter has just got a full bursary for, it is under £15,000 for a 100%

Are tax credits and child benefit regarded as income?

For us it was. Any income that you get, that is yours to spend on what you wish, is counted. So in our case for instance, the care part of my disability living allowance WAS counted, as that is paid to me to spend on what I want, but the mobility part WASN'T counted as that goes straight to Citroen to pay for our car. Income support was counted, housing benefit wasn't, etc etc.

Thanks for the prompt replies, you're much quicker than me! As soon as the kids are home, it's a fight for the computer!

I don't think I will stand a chance of getting a bursary, but you just don't know until you try. I have to do something, as my daughter is going nowhere fast at the school she is in. Having been to an independent primary school, both her and I are all too aware of the huge benefits private schools have to offer.

Hi

That is tricky - my DCs went to private primary then state senior and it is fine. Depends of course on the senior school. Which year if your DD in ?
