Oxford High every time if she is clever. Its a GDST school as you probably know and they are all very academic. DD1 went to Central High in Newcastle and we were always very impressed with the ethos and the pastoral care.

You need to visit them both and get a feel for the schools yourself. On the results side, there's not a huge amount separating them.

Your daughter will need to be academically able to get into either of them, although slightly less so (gut feeling) for Headington. We've heard from parents with girls at both schools say how much their daugthers love their schools and that the pastoral side is v good at both.

For us, the positives for OHS are slightly better results, a better location (easier parking) and lower fees. The positives for Headington are fantastic facilities, smaller class sizes and less pressured (so it seems).

Our daughter has been offered a place at both. We've yet to decide where she will go.

Thanks. Great position to be in. New head at OHS and new one coming at Headington so I'll probably visit both schools again. Good luck with your decision!

Snorter, what did you decide in the end? And are you happy with your decision? Such a difficult call between Headington and Oxford High.....

We opted for Headington and so far we have nothing but praise for the school.
