What is defined as a scholarship?

Post by sonu »

Out of interest, how do independant schools define a scholarship? - Is it the marks obtained in a subject?

So if a student obtained very high marks in Maths, but failed the English, would that be acceptable, or do they need to be high marks in all the tests?

I would say it depends on the school and how they set their scholarship criteria

For Habs Boys I was told that you would be awarded a scholarship if you achieved high marks in a particular subject. So if you didn't do as well in another subject then that won't drag down your chances. However, you are still required to pass ALL your papers.

Hi Again it depends on the school. Typically the applicant would need to obtain a place in their own right based on academic performance as well as excelling at sport or music.

I would always recommend that you speak to the relevant school directly. Any decent inde will be pleased to clarify.
