Hi
I think most schools offer bursaries - obviously it varies from school to school as to how much is available. Most require the child to have done well in the exam - not necessarily at scholarship level.

How long is a piece of string? Most schools claim to but your child would still have to be very bright to gain a bursary but not necessarily a scholar. Eton and Winchester give bursaries to non scholars but to get in a boy must already be very bright.

Try Combe Bank School for Girls, Sundridge, Kent.

Check max % awards as well before going too far down the route
Re: Independent Schools offering bursaries
Allthe indies we're looking at offering bursaries, sometimes up to full fees. They claim to be means tested, provided the boy passes the exam, rather than linked to academic prowess. However the means tests are rigorous and reviewed every year for alterations to your circumstances. Also, the value of your property is taken into account. If you could reasonably downsize to cover school fees, they'd expect that, which is fair enough.
