The reason I asked is that my daughter told me it was noticable who had been to state junior school. Not because of the social element or anything like that but because they had not been working at the same pace as those from prep and were shocked by the shift. I think this is true as my youngest is in a state junior and I see a big difference in the work that is required from her now compared to that tackled by her sister at the same age who went to a prep school. My youngest will notice the increase in work load when she goes to senior school. My eldest did not. What impresses me most about the eldests education is how she is able to deconstruct a problem. They don't merely learn the answers. They know how things work.
I am sorry your daughter is unhappy. We each of us would resent seeing that change in our child, but my experience of it has been entirely different. As you say, to each child his own.
