Thinking of applying to independent schools and GS

Ive been reading with avid interest most of the posts and only now plucked up courage to post!!!
I would love some advice
My son is in yr 5 in slough and now Im thinking of schools as well as 11+ >Apart from the grammar schools in this area can anyone advise which independent schools I should consider for bursaries/scholarships and the procedure for applying and when.
