Sensible dress. The school aren't bothered by attire.

Hi all,
I need information for Eton 13+ for children from State school as they are exempted from CE but do Maths, English and Science test. At what level a child should be working to pass the test?

It may well have been meant as a valid point, but it needed expanding on to avoid any 'misunderstanding'!

Monstamum's post below says much the same thing, but more helpfully:
Very best of luck. Do speak to admissions at Eton. They really are the best people to advise you and give your DS the best shot of getting a place.

Incidentally, if anyone objects to a post, I suggest that it would be much wiser to let moderators deal with the matter. That is what the 'report button' is for! :)

................. Very few children enter Eton via the non-CE method so the OP probably won't get a response. Not many people on here read the Eton threads or know about the admission process so I'd be surprised if anyone knows the state school process. The fact that no one has responded proves this and I thought it would be best to suggest to the OP to ask Eton in order to get the correct info as there is a lot of nonsense floating about over admission to Eton.

Hi kingsgen. I've just checked out the info in the Eton Further info booklet that we were sent last year (it's available on the website too). There's not a lot in there about non CE entrants other than they will be expected to take exams in Maths, English, science and one from French, German or Spanish. They also comment that they expect the higher level papers in Maths. I think the ISEB, on their website, provide a syllabus for the Maths papers at the various levels. You can also check out the ISEB website for the English and science and language curricula. The Eton document does say to discuss individual cases with the tutor for admissions, so WFG's advice is probably the best way to go. We found everyone in Admissions helpful and friendly. Our Ds has a place for 2014 but will be going down the CE route. We moved him to a prep school a couple of years ago when we were struggling to get to grips with the entrance requirements at non CE for Eton, Tonbridge et al. So I know its not easy to interpret and gauge where you DS will sit within the cohort. Very best of luck. Do speak to admissions at Eton. They really are the best people to advise you and give your DS the best shot of getting a place.

Hi Monstamum,
Thanks for you advice. This is very helpful. I will contact Eton as my DS will be starting a grammar school in September and his grammar school was regarded by the Sunday Times and FT as one of the best in the country and they have about 30 or more students going into Oxbridge every year. They are also Maths and Science specialist school. I will look at ISEB Maths, English and Science, Spanish as well. He will do be doing Spanish in Y7 as well.

Thanks again for your help.
